Doug Vogt was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the North Carolina State Ports Authority in November 2020.

Vogt’s extensive experience further improves the operational excellence at the Port of Wilmington, Port of Morehead City and Charlotte Inland Port. Specifically, he directs and coordinates the activities of all terminal operations. He also oversees the execution of the infrastructure investment plan.

Vogt has more than twenty years of experience in the maritime industry having worked in senior positions in port operations in several US locations. Most recently, Vogt served as VP of Operations, Maintenance and Equipment for Tropical Shipping in Riviera Beach, Florida. In addition to his time with Tropical Shipping, Vogt worked in various positions with NYK Line in Atlanta, Georgia as well as with APM Terminals in Long Beach, California and Maersk Container Service Corp. in Charlotte, NC.

Vogt is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He also earned his MBA at the University of Scranton with specializations in both Operations Management and Human Resource Management.

He relocated from Jupiter, Florida to Wilmington, NC with his wife, Julia and two daughters Ruby and Charlotte.
