New Warehouse In Morehead City Expands Storage Capacity, Spurs Growth

February 27, 2025

A new warehouse at the Port of Morehead City has brought 75,000 square feet of additional capacity online for bulk and breakbulk cargos. This strategic expansion improves Morehead City’s operations by offering additional storage space to meet growing demand while supporting North Carolina shippers.

“The completion of this new warehouse has allowed us to better service the general cargo demand in Morehead City,” said Brian Clark, Executive Director, North Carolina Ports. “Already, this additional capacity is supporting North Carolina’s robust agriculture industry by driving business expansion in our state.”

Roughly 70% of this new warehouse space is already committed, supporting investment and job growth in Eastern North Carolina by improving efficiencies for customers with operations in the region.

“North Carolina Ports continues to see strong core business success, such as lumber, grains and feeds, aviation, and rubber,” said Hans Bean, Chief Commercial Officer, North Carolina Ports. “Our strategic decision to remain diversified between containers and general cargo remains a focus, and we are in the process of identifying and evaluating future general cargo infrastructure investments required to sustain growth and better service our customers.”

The 75,000-square-foot warehouse, completed in December of 2024, was a $17 million project.
