Hurricane Ian Notice – Update #3

The North Carolina State Ports Authority continues to monitor Hurricane Ian. The Port of Wilmington is currently at Condition Modified Zulu.

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) will move the Port of Morehead City to a modified Zulu port condition at 1900 on Thursday, September 29.

NC State Ports Authority has activated its Hurricane Preparation Plan and is taking all necessary steps to protect cargo, facilities and equipment.

Thursday, September 29

Normal gate and vessel operations will continue today at the Port of Wilmington, Port of Morehead City and the Charlotte Inland Port.

Friday, September 30

  • Port of Wilmington
    • Due to the anticipated risk of high winds, there will be no vessel operations at the Port of Wilmington.
    • The South Gate (Container Gate) and container yard operations will be closed.
    • Container free time will be extended one day unless cargo is already in demurrage.
    • The North Gate will remain open for normal operating hours for General Cargo and Tenant traffic.
  • Port of Morehead City
    • Due to the anticipated risk of high winds, there will be no vessel operations at the Port of Morehead City.
    • Gate will remain open for normal operating hours.
  • Charlotte Inland Port
    • The Charlotte Inland Port will remain open for normal operating hours.

We will evaluate weather conditions and announce plans for future operations by noon on Friday, September 30.
